We arrived in Dallas OK this afternoon, after a pretty decent flight - a few bumps but nothing major. It took about an hour and a half or so to get through the passport control and customs, and it was rather warm!
However, get through we did and it was then over to the rental car place to pick up our SUV. Not a lot of choice, but the one we got is rather nice. It's a Chevrolet Traverse, with a 3.6 litre V6 engine, developing 281 bhp! Nippy!
We got to our motel, the Sleep Inn at Weatherford, Texas, by around 7.30pm CDT after a fairly quiet drive out of the DFW metroplex. We ate dinner at Applebee's - a rather nice burger and ice cold lemonade!
Although we're not expecting any significant weather over the next few days, we did arrive at Weatherford with a sharp shower going on, and 1 single CG lightning flash was seen too! Day 1, and a storm already - well, a little one.
As there's no weather over the next couple of days, we've decided to adopt the pioneer spirit and push west, towards the promised land - well, New Mexico. We're going to head to Alamogordo, which should take the whole day to get there. On Wednesday we'll visit the White Sands park, and maybe have a look around some other stuff too. We're staying over there again on Wednesday night, and then may head back towards the Plains on Thursday for a small chance of storms.
Ah! I've found your blog.
