Hello! After a rather mammoth drive we've arrived in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Much of the journey was across desolate plains, but towards the end we moved into the southern end of the Rockies - I'm not sure it still is the Rockies really but there were some mountains.
The road became windy and, after passing the town of Cloudcroft (lovely name), we descended over 4000 feet down into Alamogordo. It was after sunset as we did this but the colours to the west were still very pleasant, with distant peaks picked out in obsidian black against the pale softness of the orange afterglow of day.
We had dinner in Applebee's (surprise, surprise!).
Tomorrow we'll be going to a space museum, probably heading back up the road we came down to see the view in daylight, and, of course, heading to White Sands. Hopefully we'll see some dust devils at the latter; we saw a number of them today as we crossed the sprawling flatness of the Llano Estacado, around Seminole.
That's me, then - catch you later!
