Well another year has passed and it's almost time for Helen and me to head out to the USA for another couple of weeks' worth of storm chasing, eating burgers, and generally enjoying the hospitality of the Great Plains.
The current weather charts are not looking conducive to much severe weather for the opening gambit of our trip - there are hints of a pattern change in some ensemble forecasts but nothing of much note just yet.
However, marginal set-ups can yield amazing intercepts - for example, the stunning Campo tornado from May 2010 was on a marginal-type day. These set-ups bring fewer chasers out, and the storms can be enjoyed out in the wilderness with few others around.
